While earning my masters degree in studio art I was introduced to the medieval script Chancery Cursive at Washington University. It is an excellent style for many projects, but Copperplate has become my favorite hand.
I lettered my wedding stationery in 1978. And thus my business was born! People have found me since then for all sorts of lettering projects.
I enjoy teaching calligraphy in my studio. Ask about lessons if you want to wield a mighty pen and ink!

Something unique I offer is an art experience for parties and events- COLOR COLLISION WATER WRITING.
I letter each individual’s name in tap water, before I drop in their choice of ink colors to create a one-of-a-kind Color Explosion! within the water’s path. The science we experience is capillary action – in action!
Everyone takes home a custom work of art from your memorable party, with letters about 4 inches tall. Most children want to hang their name picture on the door of their bedroom. Adults often display theirs at work. This exciting, interactive art is suitable for any size group, such as birthday parties, family reunions, back-to-school events, lock-ins, company picnics, holiday parties, and corporate events.
What special words do you want lettered for framing? Wondering how to find time to address those invitations? Who can personalize a gift? Professional calligraphers are the folks who get those accomplished!
Wishing that you could to learn to write calligraphy yourself? I teach introductory classes for individuals and groups, including students, to improve their hand writing or to learn to write a hand lettered alphabet. With practice, you too can master the art of writing beautifully!

Hey, Carol! I meant to write to you earlier to tell you that my sister LOVED your calligraphy. I was able to ship it to her on time for her graduation and my family was able to find a lovely blue mat that matched the accent colors and a frame with some silver accents. It looks great! My sister told me that she has hung it above her bed in her new apartment and likes to look at it everyday. Thanks so much for your hard work. I am so happy with it! Hope you are having a good summer! Thanks again! Julie W. Washington University School of Medicine Program in Physical Therapy

Hi Carol — Excellent catch on both counts. –“Beltline Road” is correct street name. –“Miss Shannon ___” is the appropriate title. Thanks for noticing those two errors! Drew C. (groom)

Hi Carol! I just got back from a deployment. I would like to thank you so much for the picture. (of his wedding vows lettered and illustrated as a first anniversary gift.) It turned out wonderfully and I was definitely very well appreciated after THAT presentation. I don’t think I’ll be able to recreate the happiness that she got from the art for some time. Hope all is well, and you been getting plenty endorsements from me whenever I’ve been able to pass on your information! Kwame C. Maj, USAF, BSC Chief, Audiology Services
